SUNDAY
The last day of DC-Slash Con! My main goal was to attend the Vid Review panel, because I wanted to see the type of feedback vidders get, and thus what’s important in making a vid. It was all very informative! Not only for the aforementioned, but I also learned that one of the sources, Unbelievable Space Love, is 9 minutes long and available for free on Youtube. And that source that had the spies doing awesome action scenes (I think Shah Rukh Khan is a character or actor?) is some kind of Bollywood movie universe, or something. I’ll have to verify the details later. And then yes, Thunderbolt Fantasy really is all puppets. Which is super hecking cool.
So overall, DC-Slash con was a lot of fun! I’m excited for next year!!!
In the meantime, I finally got around to cleaning my room a little, and playing some more Fields of Mistria. Got 2 more 8-heart events under my belt!
MONDAY
I worked on my website! Made a skeleton of the structure and learned about relative links. I'm going to have to combine the CSS files I have of my two templates together, and also figure out how mail merging works to make compiling the masterlist of my fic easier, lol.
I also worked on filling out some ship templates for the Royal Plumbing Polycule, since its just past the anniversary of me posting the first fic in the series. Couldn't decide which template, so I'm filling all 3 for now. And I'll have to redraw my old relationship graph, too~
I also went back and listened to some of the songs from Saturday’s Vid Show again. Salute by Little Mix is a fun enough song. But it's also like “heck yeah, let's theme our Girl Power anthem around military-esque music and language for reasons we refuse to examine! Wahoo!” You know?
TUESDAY
I realized, with my new and improved hair washing and styling workflow, I am now That Bitch that takes literally an hour to take a shower. I should count myself lucky that I don't have roommates anymore to bother with this. (Well, there’s my brother. But in college I roomed with 5 people so that would have been worse.) The extra time was worth it though. It's been like a week since I styled my hair, and I've forgotten how cute it looked when I did~
Kept working on the website. I wanted to combine the CSS of the alphabet-soup template with the CSS of the fic masterlist template. After fighting with it all evening, I finally reached a compromise that I’m happy with! All there’s left to do now is 1) consolidate the root variables 2) adjust the colors for the dark/light modes, and 3) move on to testing the alphabet-soup fic reading template, which should go way smoother because I won't have to adjust any CSS files hardly at all! I also wanna maybe figure out how to get the footer text from the masterlist CSS onto the other pages, because I really like it!
WEDNESDAY
I was thinking of leaving the office at noon to avoid the heat but it turns out noon is one of the hottest parts of the day, go figure. Actually, it was a little cooler at 5pm, even! So it worked out!
…And it turns out while I was gone Dad drove up, and he and my brother had gone to the mythical tax-free land of New Hampshire to buy a TV and TV stand before the tariffs hit. Unexpected, but certainly welcome!
Spent all evening working on my Royal Plumbing Polycule ship charts. Figured out rather quickly that Google Drawings was the best, easiest to use, and most accessible tool I had for this (GIMP, the first option I’d thought of, was too confusing). I spent most of my time setting up one chart, but now that I had them all as documents and all the colors chosen and decided on the formatting, the rest should be smooth sailing. In fact, I got about 80% of the way done by the time bedtime rolled around!
THURSDAY
My brother spent the day assembling the TV stand (he put the back on backwards, but it’s okay!), and after work I set up the TV. Apparently both my parents had insisted to my brother that we don't use our email addresses for it, so I made up a whole new one, haha. It’s a Google TV, after all.
But it’s working great! My brother found a streaming service that was playing a big block of The Super Mario Bros Super Show, somehow. I’m interested to see if that programming block is a 24/7 thing, tomorrow. I’d love to start my mornings watching that…
I finished the ship charts! Shout out to this SVG to PNG converter for coming in clutch; the text would have been all blurry, otherwise!
FRIDAY
Messed with the TV some more. It turns out that yes, there is a channel just for playing the Super Mario Bros Super Show. I also installed S0undTV and SmartTubeNext! So hopefully no ads~!
And actually you know what I'm still not done about the Mareach friendship thing. It's crazy how many baseline assumptions people have about the series that causes them to say whatever. “Mario rescues Peach, which implies a romantic link” this, “Mario's been rescuing Peach for 40 years” that. Honestly.
Went home to do laundry, and watched some WNBA games on my parents’ TV! The LA vs Seattle one went into double overtime!!! Apparently triple overtime was an option, which is crazy.
SATURDAY
I was looking for stuff to watch on TV this morning and found How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? It's an anime where a bunch of schoolgirls are trying to lose weight/tone up, so they all are at the same gym to do so. Of course, all of them are skinny as twigs. Except for the muscle guy, I suppose. But anyway, obviously not worth watching, lmao. I landed on Xena: Warrior Princess, instead, as my background noise while waiting for breakfast. Even with the little I saw, I could see that it's a solid show! I really liked the physical effects and stuff, haha.
Also Season 5 Bubble Guppies episodes are listed as Season 1 and that pains me so much. And then later in the day I find out that Amazon Prime lists the Super Mario Bros Super Show episodes in the complete wrong order. So that's also fun!
Dabbled in some of my game backlog; I started with Cassette Beasts! Played through the first little tutorial section, and it didn't really hook me like I'd hoped. It also is one of many games that decides it wants to be a little scary by using glitching effects to represent breaks in reality. I swear every cute-ish game has that shit now…Regardless, I really wanna try again at some point because I'd wanted to play the game after hearing how non-amatonormative it is, haha. I also played Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure. It's a puzzle game. Everything was going fine, until I got stuck on a puzzle in the first area after the tutorial world. And no, there's no hint system or anything. So, you know. I turned the game off XD
Spent the evening watching a pickleball tournament match, and then Women's 3x3 basketball. Because apparently 3x3 basketball has an international competitive tournament structure — rules, referees and all. And everyone else knew about it but me.
